Throughout the ages, Yoga has demonstrated its healing properties for the body, mind and spirit. No matter who you are. No matter where you are in your life. No matter the physical, mental or spiritual challenges you face, you can practice yoga. With dedication and time, you too will experience yoga’s transformative power.
Yogashala strives to provide an authentic and pure presentation of Hatha yoga, the yoga of our ancestors under which all forms of physical posture (asana) practices reside. Beyond complementing and elevating your practice with demonstrations of different asanas, the equally important purpose of this website is to facilitate understanding of the philosophy that serves as the foundation of all yoga. Additional resources related to pranayama, Dhyana and shat karma are also presented.
Embarking on a transformative journey that harmoniously intertwined with my cultural roots, my yoga odyssey began as a serene exploration of self-discovery and spiritual enlightenment. The essence of yoga, deeply ingrained in my heritage, found its way into my life at the tender age of 11, casting the initial seeds of a lifelong practice. Guided by the radiant presence of my younger brother, Sabin, we delved into the multifaceted dimensions of Dhyan, Pranayama, Mantra Chanting, and Shlokas, laying the groundwork for a profound connection with ancient yogic traditions.
As the years unfolded, the call to delve deeper into the realm of yoga grew stronger. At the age of 13, a pivotal moment arrived when Raja Yoga Meditation beckoned, drawing me to a nearby meditation center. It was under the tender guidance of my brother, Sabin, that I embarked on this path, igniting the first embers of a transformative journey. The pursuit of inner stillness and self-awareness guided my footsteps through the corridors of this meditation sanctuary.
A significant turning point unveiled itself when I embraced the intensive "5 Year Self-Transformation and Leadership Program," orchestrated by the revered Dr. Yogi Vikasananda. This immersive expedition of the soul granted me unfettered access to the intricate tapestry of yoga's facets: asanas that celebrated the symphony of body and breath, the sublime art of pranayama, the profound depths of Dhyana, the purifying practices of shat karma, and the philosophical underpinnings that lent profound meaning to each posture. These transformative teachings were further augmented by the wisdom bestowed by the saga of Mahabharata, enriching my understanding of life's profound intricacies.
The enlightening insights that graced my journey ushered in a profound spiritual awakening, punctuating each facet of my personal existence. The radiant beacon of knowledge led me to the realm of Reiki, a time-honored alternative healing therapy. Under the nurturing guidance of Guruma Kamaleshwari, I delved into the sacred realms of Reiki, journeying through its levels with reverence and wonder. The spectrum of healing light and energy wove seamlessly into my growing tapestry of holistic understanding.
As the chapters of my yogic expedition continued to unfold, the vibrant realm of teaching beckoned. With zeal and dedication, I pursued a Yoga Alliance Teachers Training, swiftly followed by a transformative 200-hour Ashtanga Yoga Teacher Training in the hallowed precincts of Mysore, India. This juncture marked the seamless integration of my personal and professional ardor, a testament to the inextricable bond between my soul and the practice of yoga.
Guided by a fervor to share the blessings bestowed by my journey, I stepped into the role of a teacher, gracing various yoga schools and studios in my homeland, Nepal. Fueling the flames of my commitment, I delved further into the tapestry of knowledge, embracing a comprehensive 500-hour Yoga Teachers Training. Each layer of learning, each mindful breath, unfolded as a tribute to the enduring legacy of yoga, a journey that continues to unfold, enriching not only my life but the lives of those I touch with my teachings.
Nabin is the most generous teacher that I have known. He has a unlimited amount of patience, engaging a group of students with differing lifestyles, experience levels and commitment to the practice of YOGA. Even though it is clear that he takes his own practice seriously and is a complete master, he never made those around him feel any judgment for having a different standards or talent levels. He applauded both the novice and the technical expert as if there was no difference, exhibiting the true principles of the Yogi's philosophy. He was consistent in his attitude, encouragement, physical discipline, poses and structured routine of ASTANGA YOGA. He was flexible with the needs of his senior students, never asking them to move into positions that could lead to physical harm while encouraging them to stretch their comfort zone to meet their greatest capacity. He was enthusiastic about his practice, inspiring the youth to participate with abandon, enabling them to develop into their potential and feel accomplished and engaged in the practice. He was respectful to his students as if they were his teachers, recognizing the light of the divine in each. He was truly a pleasure to work with and to be coached by. His genuine warmth, words of encouragement and spirit of unconditional love continue to provide me with encouragement! I highly recommend that you involve yourself with this teacher in whatever training capacity he is offering because your practice will be enriched, your sense of mastery will be expanded and your heart will be more complete. After just one session, I am convinced that Nabin will return me to my Ashtanga practice following a long absence. He is also well versed in the pranyama breathing techniques and I'm excited to include this in my practice. I feel very fortunate to have found him and look forward to our on-going work together. Update 1/27/19: Nabin has turned out to be much more than I could have expected when we first began. Whether its my Ashtanga practice, my pranyama breathwork or overall feeling within my body, Nabin has helped me to surpass where I left off three years ago. Moreover, he is an incredibly kind and gentle soul and the inner peace he radiates has benefited me tremendously. I am so excited to see what new places we venture in the months ahead.Gregory King: Ashtanga Yoga Practitioner
Nabin is such a wonderful teacher! I took classes with him during a 500 hour YTT at Nepal Yoga Home in Kathmandu. He taught an ashtanga class, as well as a supplementary asana class. His classes were very centered and grounded, as is he. He was so helpful and kind both during and outside of practice, answering any questions we had. He truly exemplifies what a true yogi is, as he strives to embody both the body, mind, and spiritual levels of balance that come with yoga. He is very dedicated, which is seen through his amazing control of his body and mind. He can do some awesome poses too!! I would absolutely, without a doubt, recommend taking classes with him!! :)Savannah Sapodin: Yoga Teacher
Taking my 500hr YTT classes from Nabin at the Nepal Yoga Home was a really incredible experience. Nabin is such a wonderful being and his sweetness rubs off on everyone who he works with. His knowledge of and dedication to yoga inspired me to be better every day. Nabin is an excellent listener and extremely accommodating. His asana practice is very deep, but when he waxes poetic on the meaning, process, and practice of yoga, one really gets a sense of the depth of what he offers. I cannot recommend a teacher more highly. I look forward to the day that I can learn from him once again. Blessings and Ease!Alexander Castron: Student of Psychology

Upon taking this journey to become a better human and help my body and mind grow spiritually was not an easy choice, it would take practice, patience, and guidance at the very least. I learned from Yoga Guru Nabin in Nepal for a month and a half straight, during his lessons I found myself rejuvenated, inspired and hopeful that this was the right choice for me. The way he teaches and practices is one of the most traditional and awe inspiring forms of yoga I have found. His knowledge of all types of yoga from Hatha, Vinyasa, Iyenger, Meditation and etc. was so wonderful. It can only help you grow and learn, if that’s what you truly wish. The gurus that Nabin has trained with are some of the best in the world, and he has brought it all together to make himself one of the best teachers I have ever met. This is not your typical western yoga philosophy, but it can transition to that if you wish. He cares so much about his own body, mind, and practice that it will surely transfer to his students with ease. Nabin is an outstanding human being that wants to bring the best out of every person he comes in to contact with. If you have the opportunity to learn from him or even take one class, you will leave knowing that he cares about yoga and it’s energy building so much that it can help ones soul, body, and mind become more powerful. In a month and half of personal teaching, he showed me what yoga means to someone who understands all aspects of it. He has become a great mentor and friend! Namskar NabinDavid Horstmann: Yoga Teacher
I've been learning yoga on and off since I was 12 years old and Nabin is without a doubt one of the best teachers I've learned with. I spent a month with him learning yoga and breath work in Nepal. I learned so much within a short period of time and his teaching style is beautiful. He is so patient and gentle in the way he speaks and teaches. He is by far the most skilled yoga teacher I've learned with. Thank you Nabin for everything. You inspire me to keep getting better.Clara Katsuragi: Yoga Student
During our 500hr teacher training in Nepal Nabin taught us with ease, fun and professionalism. I was able to gain confidence even in difficult poses and learnt so much not only about new poses, but also how to do them in a fluent and healthy approach. If you want to evolve your Yoga practice and have the chance to take classes with Nabin, go for it, you won’t regret it. Best Florian!Florian Bosenschatz: Yoga practitioner
I have continued my ongoing yoga and mindfulness practice solely with Nambin for about a year and have been amazed with the level of peace his spirit brings me personally. I have practiced with other instructors and also practices alone and have had progress but never this much never. My yoga practice has grown to a level that I wasn't sure was possible and I owe it all to him. He helped me to perfect poses I never thought were possible such as inversions. Personally his services have brought me to a higher level of peace and life balance with the his mindfulness, meditation, and reiki sessions. This has encouraged me to transition my lifestyle to a more balanced one including giving me the courage to enhance my wellness/ life coaching practice with some of his effective techniques. I absolutely genuinely love. Nambin and recommend EVERYONE to practice with him.Sharika McDonald: Life Coach
